Alyssa Nuttall is an Australian emerging ceramic artist and designer based in Melbourne.

Her ceramics journey began with personal exploration into clay and the completion of a technician internship. She now teaches beginner’s wheel throwing at Slow Clay Centre, and is passionate about helping others on their journey to build the technical skills required to translate their ideas into ceramics.

Alyssa holds a Bachelors degree in Clinical Psychology and Music, which informs her approach to the research and development of new art and design ideas. Since 2021 she has documented personal reflection on the boundary between functionality and art, and how this can impact perception and experience.

In 2023, she is working on a series of ceramic furniture pieces that reexamine our connection to home. This research and design project presents the idea that creating a more personalised dialogue between ourselves and our living environments can positively impact our experience and modern identities. Each piece embodies a sense of her own personal identity, to provoke thought and empower individuals to consider the capacity for design to help them explore their own sense of self, and shape their sacred space in a way that resonate deeply with their unique personality.
